Obituary of John Dixon Crowe

Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

John Dixon Crowe, age 87, of Surrey B.C. passed peaceably into the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 2, 2024.  John is predeceased by his sisters Mary Crowe, Annie Mcilmoyle, Eileen McAfee and his brothers Jim Crowe and Hugh Crowe.  Survived by his loving wife of 59 years Patsy Crowe, sons Eric (Dawna) Crowe, Trevor (Kim) Crowe and daughter Dawn (Danny) Belbin 12 grandchildren and 4 sisters.

John accepted the Lord Jesus as his personal Savior on May 25th, 1952, in Northern Ireland and continued in his faith throughout the rest of his life.  Upon moving to Canada in 1957 he met believers from various lower mainline Gospel Halls before being baptized and received into fellowship at the Victoria Drive Gospel Hall.  John met Patsy Pike at a bible conference in Arlington Washington and were married in 1965.  Over the years, John and Patsy were faithful members of the Carleton Gospel Hall, Langley Gospel Hall and the Fleetwood Gospel Hall where they have been in fellowship for the past 40 years.  John loved sharing the gospel in various forums including Sunday School, personal witnessing and publicly preaching the gospel.

The 5th of 10 children, John was born in Northern Ireland before immigrating to Canada in 1957.  Before immigrating to Canada, he finished school when he was 13 years old and completed an apprenticeship in carpentry.  John started working for a local carpenter 2 weeks after moving to Vancouver and after working for 2 years, he became his own boss and began building houses.  In 1962 he formed John Crowe Construction Ltd where he built over 600 homes including a condo complex in Burnaby.  The last home that he constructed was completed in 1999 which was the last home that John lived in.  John used his building expertise to manage the construction of 2 new gospels halls and helped with minor projects in a number of other gospel halls.

John and Patsy loved to travel and over the years their travel progressed from a truck with a homemade camper to 5 motorhomes of various sizes.  They crisscrossed the USA, Canada and Mexico in their motorhomes visiting family and friends and always sought to find a place to meet with the Lord’s People on Sundays.  In their retirement years they took several cruises and tours through Alaska, Europe, South America, the Caribbean and Australia.  John always had a spot in his heart for his home country of Ireland and made frequent trips to visit his family.  During their retirement years, John and Patsy became snowbirds by spending their winters in Arizona to be with their kids and Grandkids.  During these winter months they met new friends in retirement communities and were active helpers in the Orangewood Gospel Hall in Phoenix Arizona.

John’s love for his Lord and Savior and the local assembly that he was a part of, as well as his love for each of his kids and grandkids will be missed by all.

Our family would like to thank the nurses at Surrey Memorial Hospital as well as Dr’s Chapman, Nazari and Tong for their first-class care over the past number of months.
