Norma Ruby Price

Norma was born in Shackleton, Saskatchewan on the 25 Aug, 1933. She attended school and went on to nurses’ school in Moose Jaw, SK, receiving her RN in 1955. In summer of 1954, she met her future husband, training as a pilot in RCAF; married in June, 1955 in Hamilton, Ontario. Her husband Jim was posted to RCAF STN Moose Jaw as a flying instructor until 1959, left military life with two children (boys) and started a new life as an Esso agent dealer in Port Coquitlam, before two more children, a boy and a girl. She returned to nursing in 1973 at Hawthorne Lodge in Port Coquitlam; retired in 1993 as Director of Nursing.
A devoted mother, wife, nurse, grandmother. Normie loved people; family and grandchildren especially. She loved her Dutch heritage and maintained close contact with family members in Saskatchewan. In retirement, she loved plants, flowers, birds, squirrels, gardening and enjoyed cooking, baking and good jokes. Normie loved sports; curling, hockey, baseball, and football.
In declining health, she bravely faced the future. Now, much too soon, she is gone to a better place.
No Service by request. Special thanks to Baillie House – Haney Lane Staff for caring for Normie before her final landing on February 13, 2017.

When I’ve come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me
I want no rights in a gloom filled room
Why cry for a soul set free?
Miss me a little but not too long
And not with your head bowed low
Remember the love once shared
Miss me but let me go.
For this is the journey we all must take
And each must go alone
It’s all part of the master’s plan
A step on the road to home.
When you are lonely and sick at heart
Go to the friends we know
And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds
Miss me but let me go.

  7. Oh dear Mama,
You truly were and always will be in my heart, an angel.
When I think back to what kind of mother you were to us I just cant say enough. You were absolutely perfect in every way. And what a role model you where … I never heard you say an ill word about anyone. Even if you were upset you still were kind, gentle and understanding. Just like you were ,raising all us kids.
I remember you getting ready to go to work each morning to Hawthorne Lodge. You were a beauty. Gorgeous. Always looking like a million bucks.. Your love for yourself glowed as did your love for your job .I know you loved your staff as much as they loved you. I would just gaze at your beauty. Your poise and control as you stepped forth out the door every week day, always on time, going to your work place to care , from the bottom of your heart, for all the ol folks who adored you. I was and still am so very very proud of what you stood for as a woman. You where a real woman to me in every way!
And your gardening! How you worked so hard in your flower garden as Dad worked the vast Vegetable garden.. My goodness.. And your out of this world cooking. Best Christmas dinner yet! And how you could bake! Really there wasn’t much you couldn’t do. All with a smile on your face and a laughter that was infectious.
Even in your aging years and frustrated with yourself , you still managed to maintain your beauty, poise and control, as well as your awesome sense of humor, that I know for a fact had a lot to do with dear ol dad!:)
One thing for sure is that you were and always will be my sunshine. Best memories of late is when you and I would sing “You are my Sunshine” together.. you could still remember most of the words and sing like an angel, what a beautiful voice you had.
Oh Mama, you lived to a great ol age and I know ,have many many fond memories , of your life with all of us that loved and cared about you. Thank you Dad and Jaimie for taking the best care of Mama. Both of you deserve a gold medal. Really warms my heart knowing that mom was in the best hands ever all these years.
Mama thank you for being everything a daughter could ask for in a Mother, my sunshine. I know you are at peace now , and you have moved on. I know in my heart that you are o.k
Hopefully one day we will hold hands again, sing our song , laugh together like we always did, with tears coming down our eyes, and give each other lots of kisses on the lips, and keep saying I love you, over and over again,
    forever, amen

    your one and only, kimberlyannberly
    love you Mama
