So sorry for your loss. Heart goes out to Fe and the family. I will miss his big smile and great stories when I drop by weekly. He will be greatly missed.

“I know for certain that we never lose the people we love, even to death. They continue to participate in every act, thought and decision we make. Their love leaves an indelible imprint in our memories. We find comfort in knowing that our lives have been enriched by having shared their love.” Leo Buscaglia

Case and I spoke often and one of the things
that he told me was that when his time came
it was so important to him that we do not
gather and grieve. Instead share a laugh,
remember the good times and toast the friendship
we shared.

Case you were bigger than life; a man with a big
ego but a much bigger heart and a soul filled
with compassion and kindness.

You made many of us laugh and you were forever
bringing smiles to our faces. And this is how
I will remember you, my dear friend, smiling –
that eternal smile.

“When I’ve come to the end of the road,
And the sun has set for me
I want no rights in a gloom filled room
Why cry for a soul set free ?

Miss me a little but not too long
And not with your head bowed low
Remember the love once shared
Miss me but let me go.

For this is the journey we all must take
And each must go it alone
It’s all apart of the master’s plan
A step on the road to home.

When you are lonely and sick at heart
Go to the friends we know
And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds
Miss me but let me go.”

Will miss sitting with Case under the big umbrella in Summer and having a laugh. A true Pitt Meadows icon, now free of pain and suffering, watching down on his wonderful family.

Case was an inspiration to a lot of young growers and farmers. We remember the parties very well and it still makes us laugh. We hope that the great memories will carry the family through this sad time.

It wasn’t just that you could drive through the biggest potholes in Canada to buy the “best eggs in the world” but you had to turn your engine off because there was always a story to listen to. A Case special.

We’re going to miss you, Case, and your stories.

From one farmer to another, we will all miss you, but we will always remember your wisdom, giant heart and the laughter.

Sending my strength to the family during this time.

Dear Laan Family,
I am so sorry for your loss. Case was a lovely man who I always enjoyed seeing when coming to the farm for eggs, blueberries and veggies. He shared his knowledge of growing garlic with me. I now grow my own thanks to him … the best garlic around!

May the thoughts and prayers of others give you all strength during this difficult time.
