Owen Hosford

It is with the profoundest sadness that Jenny and Paul Hosford announce the passing of their beloved son, Owen, in a tragic accident whilst hiking near Squamish. He is terribly missed by his brothers Anthony, Matthew, and James, and the Osborne and Hosford families. Owen’s passing has left a hole in all our hearts. He will be remembered for his loving gentle nature, his exuberance for life and love of the outdoors. May God hold you in the palm of his hands.

Vigil prayers will be held on Thursday July 10th at 7:30pm at St Patrick’s Catholic Church – 22561 121 ave, Maple Ridge, and the funeral service at 10:45am Friday July 11th, also at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Owen’s name to Squamish Search and Rescue.

  1. Brenda Wrigglesworth :

Jenny & Paul – I remember when I first met him, he was so small, grew into a wonderful young man, funny, loved his sports and his family, lived life to the fullest. I am certain he had no regrets, did what he loved doing. How many of us can say that?
You will never get over his death, will always remember him and think of him constantly. It will get easier, however, that takes a long, long time. I am at a loss what to say, nothing I know will help, the best advice I can give is to talk about him for as long and as much as you want, it helps.
Both of you (and the boys) will grieve in different ways, just help each other out as much as you can, remembering you all loved him and miss him. Prayer helps a lot. I am thinking of you all, wish I was closer so at least I could do some cooking for you, but I am there in spirit.

  11. Tim Unaegbu :

We never had a dull moment together, I spent my best years with a team full of exceptional talented men. Owen was a strong believer that life does not have to be serious and that there is fun in anything you do, this has been a lesson I have stuck to all through my years. Owen Matty and Myself when put together whether in Florida or when Owen and I went to the UK we were 3 people you know that will entertain the players and parents and they always knew we were up to something. Paul and Jenny, the Dedication you put forward day in and out with the boys to get them to places on time is a selfless act and our team appreciates that. Anthony and James the love you have for your brother is what family is all about. Matty you are my brother, my friend and teammate. Though I moved away i know youd share the same feeling that our bond and respect we have for one another is precious and filled with humor. He lives in all that has met him, and cant wait to see that smirk that we all love.

Osbornes and Hosfords always in my prayers.

  54. Melanie C Wells :

    Jenny, Paul and family,
We came to the service but had to leave to catch our plane before we were able to pass on our condolences. It was so touching to see how many people came to support you and the boys. I cannot imagine how difficult it must be for you to face this loss and I pray the Lord wii give you strength. While we were in France I visited many beautiful cathedrals and heard the stories of conflict, destruction and suffering. But through all this turmoil, death and loss the power of God’s love continues to give us hope. I was reminded that these magnificent living cathedrals are a testiment to the power of God to give us comfort from our suffering and to remember that our human bodies may pass but our spirits will live on in his love. I remember Owen playing hockey with Mark in our street and I know how proud you were of the young man he became. May God give you the strenght to remember the joy he brought to your lives and help you to let go of the pain.
    With love
    Mel & Pete

My wife and I would like to offer our sincere sympathy for the loss of your son, Owen. Our son is the same age and, in August, will be backpacking the Sunshine Coast trail. I don’t know how we would cope if anything happened to him.
I’ve been hesitant to speak about your son’s death, as words seem so inadequate at such a time.
In any case, our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

    Kevin Connolly and Gillian Roberts
