Born on lucky Friday, August 13, 1948, Nick was a precocious child. Always up for an adventure. He left home at an early age and tried his hand at many things. He worked as a Fuller Brush salesman, then welding flatbed trailers. He met a new friend and his interest in radio was born. He had a short stint as a radio personality. He DJ’d for a short time, then joined the navy at the age of 19. After leaving the Navy he started a commercial cleaning company with a friend. They sold that and he moved to Golden where he purchased a dry cleaners. He met his wife, Melody in 1973, and married in 1975. In 1977, experiencing hard times they moved to North Vancouver with their first daughter. He was able to land a job at CKO Radio with John Newberry. From there he moved on to CKVU, VU13, UTV, Canwest Global, Shaw media where he finally retired in 2014 to enjoy time with his wife and enjoy his passion of golf and travel. In November 2014 he joined Rogers Communications, where he stayed until he became ill. He was awarded the 2015 Audrey Award for outstanding commitment and contribution to the advertising industry.
He loved golf, family, friends, travel, jokes and his career. Everyone whom he met was left feeling good and became a part of his life. His most recent boss and friend was quoted as saying “the best that this industry has ever seen”.
He traveled to Greece, England, France, and Holland, and enjoyed many golf trips. He had golfed throughout BC, the US, Mexico, and not too long ago was proud to have attended the Masters in Augusta, Georgia. His heart was at Meadow Gardens Golf Course. He loved his family and friends, and he was the consummate joker.
We would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and support staff at both Royal Columbia Hospital and Ridge Meadows Hospital for all the wonderful care and attention given to Nick.

  1. Laura and John Comeau :

Our sincerest condolences to you Melody and your family. Although we knew Nick but for a short time he was always full of life, laughter and smiles. We will miss seeing his smiles around Cedar Downs. Please do not hesitate to call on us for anything, we are more than glad to help you in anyway.

  2. Barry & Rose Anselmo :

To Melody and family, we were so deeply sorry to hear of Nick’s passing. We have a few great memories of you both, especially travelling to Mexico with Geordie and Naida and meeting up with Reno & Kathy and other friends. And then Geordie’s surprise birthday party in Castlegar. We were glad to visit with him at the hospital. He still joked and was in good spirits. Barry asked him if he remembered when Barry was in the hospital as kids what he brought him and he smiled and said “Oranges”. Nick will surely be missed.

  3. Dear Melody and Family,

  7. I was so, so sorry to hear about Nick’s death and my heart goes out to his entire family. Nick was a true character and wonderful raconteur who brought life and energy to everyone he encountered. He was a good friend, and I loved talking to him whenever our paths crossed at GlobalBC – which was frequently. The world was a better place because of Nick Misisco. He will be missed immensely. I will be in New Zealand when his memorial is held – but will pay a silent tribute to him from there at the exact time of the service. Please accept my deep felt condolences in memory of a wonderful human being.
