To the Hughes Family,

I am very sorry to hear of Larry’s passing. I have known him as long as I remember. I am Melody Smith, Bert and Helen Smith’s daughter. Barry and Larry chummed together. My prayers and thoughts to go all of the family. We use to live near your folks.

Thank you for your kind words. While do not remember yourself or your parents, my Mom Linda recognized your names right away. We are having a small gathering at his home on Sat 20th. You are welcome to stop by. His address is 7538 May Street Mission.
Thanks again,
Danni

Condolence from Levina (Sam) Ugolini on July 21st, 2013 9:12 pm

My sincerest condolences on the passing of Larry. I have bowled on the same league with Larry for many, many years. When my husband was ill and then passed away, Larry’s kind words of encouragement meant a lot to me. I will never forget them. Again, my heartfelt sympathy.

Danni and Teresa, I was so sad to hear about Larry’s passing. I got to know not only your dad but both you girls while working at Maple Ridge Lanes, and I always enjoyed the cheeky dry wit that was a signature of your dads personality ! Your dad was brave and bold before it was “cool” to be that, and I know that over the years I saw even the most jaded old school bowlers, come to not only accept who and what your dad was, but to embrace him whole heartily !! Your dad loved you girls and I was witness several times to his huge smile as he announced the birth of yet another grandbaby. When I reflect on what your dad achieved in his life, I have to say that I am still to this day in awe that even in the small world of the bowling centre he led the way for acceptance and tolerance. Your family is in my thoughts…
