I miss you dad.

Condolence from John Mills on May 20th, 2011 9:37 am

I am really sorry to hear about Larry’s death. When I worked with him at the BC Ministry of Highways, he was an individual who never gave up and always was willing to help.

I was reminded of this tenacity and spirit, when I bumped into Larry and Annette last year in New Westminster, when I learned how they really had to struggle after they left the Ministry.

I am so very sorry for Annette’s loss………and I hope that she is doing OK.

Condolence from Derek Wilson on May 20th, 2011 9:39 am

I will always remember Larry Koper because he was the first person I met face-to-face at the BC Ministry of Highways. Larry was sitting in his “Quickie” outside the Ministry’s office in Burnaby when I arrived, from Edmonton, for a job interview in September 1995.

Larry recognized that I was a “stranger” with a lost look on my face. He asked where I wanted to go; I explained my purpose; and he said: “You have to go up to the 3rd floor”. Then he proceeded to give me some tips on the members of the interview panel! Larry may deserve some recognition for my success at winning the job.

Larry had a dry sense of humour, a practical approach to highway design, and a generosity of nature to help other people.

I am sincerely saddened by Larry’s death at a too young age. I am writing to express my commiseration to his wife Annette whom I knew in the Planning group at the Ministry too.
