Posted By obits On March 21, 2016 @ 2:07 pm In Obituaries | 12 Comments

Katlyn Kimberley passed away on March 12, 2016, aged 30. “Katie” was the third daughter of the late D. William Hetherington and Kimberley Pearson and, for most of her life, step-daughter of Ronald Pearson who was “Dad” to her. Katie was born in Saint John, N.B. on Dec 29, 1985 and since 1995 lived in the Coquitlam/Maple Ridge area in B.C. She was a Medical Office Assistant for Doctors’ practices in the area.
Katie had a free spirit and a big heart; she loved the elderly, young children and they loved her back. She was a great animal lover, especially cats. She was quick with a joke, loved making people happy, and on your worst day Katie could always make you laugh.

Katie lived life with intensity and passion, a lesson for us all.

She was much loved and will be greatly missed by her parents and siblings Marie Hanlon (Mike), Ashley Fraser (Cale), Rachael Pearson, Alexander Pearson and Emily Pearson, as well as niece (Carys), nephews (Blake, Cash and William) and her many friends.

Donations may be given in her memory to a charity of choice, or one of the following:
– GF Strong Rehabilitation Centre via VGH/UBC Hospital Foundation (where Katie recovered from her spinal injury)
– Katie’s Place Animal Shelter, Maple Ridge, B.C., Canada
– Canadian Mental Health Association.

Expressions of sympathy can be made below.

Condolence from Falyn Laidlaw on March 24th, 2016 8:26 pm

Katie was a big part of my life through high school. And with the the most honesty she was one of the most beautiful, happy people I knew I see her now with her hand pressed against her mouth and a silly little giggle coming out. I’m so sorry for this great loss. May her memory be celebrated as her life was lived. In happiness and laughter. Lots of love to all of you. May you give a little smile and giggle while remembering Katie. I think that’s the way she would have wanted it.

Condolence from Tanya Moyer on March 25th, 2016 4:43 pm

Katie was one of my best friends growing up. I have many very special memories from my childhood with her. Her humour and charisma is a big reason why I feel I am the person I am today. She was corky, silly, and full of life. This news makes me feel empty. Haven’t seen her for many years but she will be in my thoughts now. Regards to the family.

Condolence from Katherine and Jeff Butler on March 26th, 2016 6:15 pm

Katie was an exceptional spirit! She had an old soul and was capable of lighting up a room with her smile. She was like family to me and my husband and two girls for over 11 years. I will never find a friend like her, she loved unconditionally and never passed judgment. She helped me though many hard times and was there for so many of the good. I loved her so much and there will always be a void in my life with her gone.

Kim, Ron and family
I am so sorry for your loss. It is so hard to know what to say. Word may not be enough but this quote by William Shakespeare may be a comfort.

“Good night, good night! Parting is such sweet sorrow, that I shall say good night till it be morrow.”

Please know that if we can help in any way we will.

Sincerely
Aren, Andrew and family

Condolence from Julie Ledet on March 28th, 2016 5:47 pm

Dear Kim and family,
There are no words I can say so I will leave this beautiful passage.
She is in the sun, the wind, the rain
She is in the air you breathe with every breath you take
She sings a song of hope and cheer, there is no more pain, no more fear
You will see her in the clouds above, hear her whisper words of love
You will be together before long, until then listen for her song…..

Condolence from Graham & Bridie Robbie on March 31st, 2016 11:15 am

We can think of no words that properly express our sadness at the news of Katie’s passing. Our children are the sunshine in our hearts, their smiles and laughter, the fruits of our existence.

Perhaps the words below, penned for a similar tragic loss will touch a chord and in time offer a small glimmer of light back into your daily life. We hope so!

One Small Star
When I need to feel you near me,
I stand in this quiet place,
With the silver light of countless stars,
Falling on my face
Your light still shines!
It’s one small star to guide me,
to help hold back the dark.
Your light’s still shining in my heart.
Can your soul be out there somewhere?
Beyond the infinity of time.
I guess you’ve found some answers now.
I’ll have to wait for mine. ….E. Bogle

Our hearts and thoughts are with you and your family at this time.
Graham & Bridie
