Irene was a classmate of mine at St. Patrick’s Convent School. We reconnected when we had our 50th Anniversary six years ago, and we were thrilled to have Irene join us here in St. John’s. I kept in contact with Irene by e-mail and a few times by phone ever since. A couple of years ago, she planned to come to St. John’s during the Regatta, and we made plans to get together. However, that never happened. Perhaps she was not well. I have fond memories of Irene from our school days and am so very sorry she passed away. My sincere sympathy to her children and sisters.

  13. Hi Ricky, Karen, Rodney and girls.Your mom was such a special person to our familyespecially mom as they immediately connected as caring neighbours and remained close friends while your family lived next door. Let me tell you ,it was a sad day when we found out that you were moving to St. John`s as we lost our playmates and close buddies.John and Irene were an integral part of early years in good old Mount Carmel and it was never the same when they moved . I saw your mom and dad the last time they were in Mount Carmel as really it was as if time stood still as we regaled about bygone days and your mom dug pictures out of purse to bring us up to speed with the happenings in her children`s lives.I will remember her warm smile and gentle caring ways.

  14. The McCrate family, my condolences.
I am sorry to have read about the passing of Irene. I have had the pleasure of working with Irene for the last couple of years at the Maple Ridge Hospital Gift Shop. We missed each other in the last month due to our going away and I was anticipating our conversations when I returned to the shop a couple of weeks ago. Irene and I would talk about her life in New Foundland and other places she had lived and her family. I heading there on my vacation. I will leave a special prayer for her there and my memories of a very pleasant lady.
