Helga was one of the wonderful women I met when I first joined Westcoast. She loved the chorus. Such a positive spirit. She danced, she sang, she just gave it her all. She squeezed everything she could out of the time she had on this earth. So many people gained from her talents. My sympathy to the family she loved so much.

  14. Dear Carlos and David, The passing of Helga is so hard to take. She fought a good fight for so long that I thought she would live forever. She was an amazing woman and oh so talented, not to mention a leader and role model. How I will miss seeing her at Sweet Adeline and Barbershop functions. Henk and I send you our deepest sympathy. I guess heaven needed a sweet bass that could rock the choreography and keep everyone in line. Bless you dear Helga.

    Dear Carlos and David
Mike and I were so saddened to hear that sweet Helga has gone home to God. The first time I ever saw her she was dancing in the front row of the Burnaby Chorus and I thought she was the classiest , most elegant creature I had ever seen. And when I finally got to know her I was not disappointed..she was all of that and so much more. The world will surely miss your lovely Helga with her kind and gentle heart and radiant smile.

  17. Helga – an amazing tour de force you were .. and for all we know, still are … truly, one of the women that changed the path of my life – for the better – and in this i am certain i am not alone – thank you, i remember the night i met Helga – october, 1982. a pizza parlor in burnaby…. Helga – you absolutely, irresistibly contageously kind and fabulous soul. you made your mark here and may you now relax .. to Helga’s Carlos – such a blessing that in this crazy world, you were able to find one another – and David, you hit the jackpot with her as your mom … family and friends, may she live in your spirit, your deeds, your actions – and every now and then, when you smile, may a trace of her be with you ….

I was so sorry to hear of Helga’s passing. She was such a fine lady, an it was a privilege to sing and dance with her for so many years.

  22. I’ve been thinking about Helga’s passing for the past week, not knowing what to write, just remembering the personal moments that struck me. Helga was a fan of Barbershop world around us and whether she sang, danced or watched, you could see the passion. It was her world that included Carlos, David and us… her extended family. It’s a loss in my physical world, but I will cherish the memories that make it a complete picture. I most loved that Helga could speak German to me and I’d return the banter in Dutch… we both understood. She called me “Kid”. Thanks “moederje” you were a special treat in my life.

  23. So sad to have lost such a beautiful lady. I will always remember Helga’s wonderful smile and her love for music. She was a very special and I am glad I got to know her. My thoughts and payers to you and your family Carlos.
