In Memorial

May 27, 1932 – February 23, 2013
Doris was welcomed peacefully into the arms of Jesus, surrounded by her family at McKenney Creek Hospice on February 23, 2013. She was born May 27, 1932 in Erickson, Manitoba. She moved to BC with her beloved husband Bill (predeceased in 2001), where they raised their five daughters: Laureen (Carlyle), Iris (Ned), Janice (Tom), Melanie (Craig) and CarolAnn (Blair). A devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother she will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. The family takes comfort in knowing that there is a joyous reunion taking place in heaven, with her many family members and friends who have gone on before her.

Her family is so thankful for the numerous doctors and health care professionals who made it possible for Doris to enjoy an active last year, building long lasting memories with her family.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Maple Ridge Alliance Church, 20399 Dewdney Trunk Road, on Thursday, February 28 at 2:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to BC Children’s Hospital, or a charity of your choice.

Condolences for the family of “Doris Eleanor (Shellborn) Karton”

Condolence from Marlene Davis on February 25th, 2013 5:00 pm

To the Family of dear Doris
I am sad to hear of Doris’passing but know there will be a joyous reunion in heaven with all those who have preceded her in death.
She was a joy to be around – such a wistful smile- memories of years spent together in worship at St Paul”s and the friendships we both shared.
God bless you richly as you celebrate her life and as you miss her in your daily lives. There is comfort in knowing she is not suffering any longer – she will be missed.

Auntie Doris, a very special person who we all have been so fortunate to share. She will be lovingly remembered and of course sorely missed. Her beautiful daughters all have a piece of her living within them, and will pass on to their children her wonderful qualities. Thinking of you all as you celebrate her life and rejoice in the knowledge that her spirit lives on.

Condolence from Anne Johnson on March 1st, 2013 6:06 pm

Whenever I think of my early years at St. Paul’s, Doris stands out as one of the strong women of faith that drove that congregation. She was an untiring saint, providing humble service. She used to bake cakes and bring them over for Dad during his “bachelor” years, following Mom’s death. I know that all of you will feel her loss and miss her terribly, though you will take comfort in her presence with God. Loreen, Iris, Janice, Melanie, Carolann and families, may God hold you and may God wipe away all of your tears.
