October 8, 1949 – May 17, 2013

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Al, with his family by his side, on Friday, May 17, 2013 after a brief battle with a sudden illness. He will be forever missed by his wife of 38 years, Anne, his son, Russell and daughter-in-law, Taryn, as well as all of his extended family and dear friends both in British Columbia and Ontario. Special thanks to all of the doctors and staff at Royal Columbian Hospital who provided such compassionate care to Al and our family. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Northside Church, 1460 Lansdowne Drive (at David), Coquitlam. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Al’s name to the War Amps of Canada.

Our families also have shared many many happy times and sad times, & road trips, and vacations, and now Al’s passing leaves a huge hole in our hearts.     A few years ago, I had the pleasure to work with Al at OpenRoad Toyota. I left at the end of 2011. Every Saturday he and I shared hockey stats, golf stories and great conversation.     Dear Anne & Russell, I was so shocked and saddened to hear of the passing of Big Al. Russell always has the same warming smile that Al greated everyone with. I only volunteered along side him on the baseball executive for a few short years but through sports I always ran into him and he will be so missed by so many. My prayers and thoughts are with you both and may his memory forever not be forgotten.

  11. Al was just the best…we spent so many great times together over the past 30 years. I have never shared so many laughs with anyone as I did with Al. I have so many memories that will keep me thinking about him as time goes on. Take care Anne, Russell and Taryn.
