Born Jun 17, 1939 Port Arthur, Ontario, passed away July 17, 2011 Maple Ridge, BC – age 72
Predeceased by parents Rose and Joe Mahoney, sisters Joanne Eull and Lorraine Mahoney. Survived by children Melinda McLeod (Rick), Jennifer Budnick (Jeff), Brian Eve (Caroline) – sisters Maureen Sullivan and Kathryn Veneziale – 14 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
Mary Lou was a great mother, sacrificing all for her children and family.

Bessie Charlotte Rebecca Laing (nee Hobbis)

Bessie passed away peacefully at the Ridge Meadows hospital on July 14, 2011 at the age of 90 with her sons Bob and John and daughter Cathy at her side. Born in Vermillion Alberta, she grew up and lived for many years in the Burquitlam area, moving to Maple Ridge in 1973. Throughout her life, she loved her flower gardens and the birds who regularly visited them.
Bessie was predeceased by her husband Jack and her daughter Betty and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. A heartfelt thanks from Mom and her family to her friends, her caregivers from the Fraser Health home support team and Doctor Mawani. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ridge Meadows Hospital Foundation. At Mom’s request no service will be held, but a small gathering of friends and family will be scheduled for later in the summer.

Predeceased by first husband Glen Paul, second husband William (Bill) Bean, parents Ignatius and Maude Kohnen, sisters Kathleen, Bernice, Mary and brother John. Dearly missed by son Glen Paul (Claire), grandchildren Darcy and Brian (Tammy), great grandchildren Larrisa and Evelyn, many nieces and nephews and all who knew her. Sherrie Mae Matthewson nee Gaehring

Sherrie Mae Matthewson nee Gaehring born May 31st 1934 passed away at home July 14th, 2011. Sherrie was born in Regina, Saskatchewan and raised in Retlaw, AB, later moving to Edmonton, AB where she worked as a stewardess for Pacific Western Airlines for a number of years. She ended her working days as a teller at the Royal Bank in Maple Ridge. Sherrie devoted her retirement years to her Grandchildren.
Sherrie is survived by her husband John and daughters, Shawn Matthewson- Schober of Maple Ridge, Sheirra Matthewson-Davies of Norwich, UK and Kyla (Peter) Matthewson Sellers of Fairview, AB.
Sherrie was a loving mother to her three daughters and an especially loving Grandma to Liam of Maple Ridge, Caelen of Norwich, UK, Brading of Norwich, UK and Rorey of Fairview, AB.
She is survived by her brother Dale (Carol) Gaehring of Fort Saskatchewan, AB and sister in law Judy of Breton, AB. She was predeceased by her angel grandson Aron, son in law Siegfried and her brother Larry Gaehring of Breton, AB. Survived by special nephews Dennis and Darrell of Calgary, AB, Lonny of Sherwood Park, AB and Jamie of Breton, AB and nieces Laurel of Sherwood Park, AB and Leslie of Winfield, AB and their families.
No service by request. Cremation and arrangements conducted by Garden Hill, Maple Ridge.

Marie Louise Alphonsine Flavie (Bourgouw) Nelkenbrecher
August 24, 1934 – July 12, 2011.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Louise Nelkenbrecher, a 45 year resident of Maple Ridge. She worked in the kitchen at Valley View Hospital and was a long standing member of the B.C.G.E.U. Louise was an accomplished quilter, gardener, and volunteered for many local charities as well as the B.C.Games. She was a legion member and an honoured Metis Elder. Louise is survived by her daughters Dawn Neault (Jim), Lola McNames (Gerald Hackett); son Nolan Nelkenbrecher (Karen); grandsons Travis Neault , Jeremy Neault (Samantha), Scott McNames, Chantry Hackett and Taggart Hackett; great grandchildren Aidan Neault, Gavin & Zayda Burgart & Declan Cunningham Hackett; sister Florence Seniw as well as many nieces & nephews. Funeral Mass to be held on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at 12:00 noon at St Patrick’s Catholic Church – 22587 121 Ave, Maple Ridge. Interment to follow at Maple Ridge Cemetery.

Arlo was predeceased by his parents Alfred and Magda, brothers Jack, Donald, and Palmer, daughter-in-law Gloria. He is survived by his wife of 62 years Nettie, his children Heather(Ron)and Douglas(Kathy), seven grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. With great sorrow we announce the passing of Dave after a couragous battle with pancreatic cancer. Predeceased by both his parents, Gordon and Clara Cratty. Dave is survived by his wife, Lynda, Son Delbert(Ethna), daughter Billie-Jo (Jim) Bennett; Step children, Juanita(Roger) LaFrance, Tammi Stewart, Nicole Stewart, and Corry Stewart; Grandchildren, Jory, Mason and Rhys Cratty, and 12 step grandchildren. Also mourning his loss are his brothers Clint(Sheila) Cratty, Tom Cratty, sister Carol Cratty, Nephews Jason(Melanie) Cratty, James(Laura) Cratty, great Nephew Kevin Cratty and many other
family and friends.
A celebration of his life will be held in the downstairs room at The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 88 – 12101 224th Street, Maple Ridge on Friday, July 15 between 2-4pm.

Robert Michael Bowyer (Ribsy)

Robert (Bob) Bowyer passed away peacefully with family by his side at McKenney Creek Hospice in Maple Ridge, B.C. at the age of 77. Bob was born at Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster and raised in Port Hammond, B.C. Bob, was predeceased by his dear wife Loretta (Bubs), and they were long time residents of Maple Ridge, and formerly, of Port Coquitlam.
Bob will be lovingly remembered by his four children, Mike (June), Michelle (Melissa), Lou (Linda), Kaleen (Barb), his five grandchildren, Kevin (Diane), Steve, Laura, Aaron and Kelsey. Bob also leaves behind his sister, Claire Bowyer of Langley and brother Albert Bowyer of Calgary, Alberta. He will be greatly missed by the many family and friends who shared in his life, and in many good times and celebrations at the family home in Maple Ridge.
Bob was an accomplished athlete throughout much of his youthful years. Most notably, Bob was a gifted baseball player, playing in the Dewdney Men’s league for many years. He also played a mean game of golf and he smashed many a shuttlecock with authority in his day.
Bob’s work career at ESCO Limited in Port Coquitlam spanned 38 years where he was the plant superintendent for over 20 years. He was affectionately known as the “Man of Steel” by those he knew him in that capacity.
The Bowyer family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at McKenney Creek Hospice who gently and lovingly cared for dad in his final days.
Service and reception will be held at 11:00am on Friday, July 15th at Garden Hill Funeral Services, 11765 – 224th Street, Maple, Ridge. Burial to follow at Maple Ridge Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Alzheimer’s Society would be greatly appreciated.
