As you danced in the light
with joy, love lifted you.
As you brushed against this
world so gently, you lifted us.

Hannah Dawn Ziehr-Schuil

Hannah will also be dearly missed by her sister Kirsten, brothers Jake and Liam, Oma and Opa (Bill and Ada Schuil), Gran (Deidre Lowe), Grandpa (Ron Lowe) and Grandma Tove. Hannah will also be missed by her cousins, aunts, uncles, caregivers and many friends.

Funeral Service to be held on Friday, June 3rd at 11:00am at Maple Ridge Baptist Church – 22155 Lougheed Highway, Maple Ridge. Interment to follow at Whonnock Cemetery (on 96th Ave off 272nd Street in Maple Ridge). In lieu of flowers, donations to be made to B.C Children’s Hospital in memory of Hannah.

As we try to express our gratefulness for all the special people in Hannah’s short life, We are overwhelmed once again by how many people loved our daughter and how many people supported us in being her family. We find it very difficult to actually represent the vastness of that love and support network. We realize that in reality all of you at one time or always were part of her family and in your support, love and care became part of ours. There is a lot of attention on us right now, but we want to sincerely say, we are also so sorry for your loss and no words seem big enough to express our gratitude for you – Andrew and Christine

Daniel David Smith

May 27, 2011

Oct 17th 1996 – May 22rd, 2011 (14yrs old)

It is with overwhelming sadness we announce the passing away of our PRECIOUS BLUE EYED SON Daniel David Smith. Born Oct 17th, 1996 in North Vancouver B.C to the parents of Graeme & Nirvana Smith. He had two brothers and one sister. Jordan 17yrs old, Matthew 16yrs old and Rebekah 11yrs who really will be 12yrs old in 3weeks. Our four children were not only born close together, they were and still are each others best friends. We have so so many memories of the six of us together. Looking back at photos bring us joy and now insurmountable pain. Our sons have lost their threesome ways and our daughter her playful companion. Daniel definitely always needed to be “heard” in all our conversations around our table. He would be the loudest and fastest talker, he always had some thing to share and we got ALL the details. He was very tenderhearted, always helpful and a very loving sensitive person…. He had the tidiest most organized room of the bunch, everything had it’s place. Even for example the dish washer would be loaded with a system in mind. Every day I would receive many kisses from him, one first thing in the morning, then I would get one when he left & came back from school and then again at night. Oh! Son how I will miss those kisses… I know your brothers and sister will likewise miss you so much! We were so blessed to have had the privilege of raising you son. We believe children are a gift from God given to us for a time to nurture, teach, instruct and love. We have to believe that we did this to the best of our ability. We as parents shared with our four children that there is a God in Heaven. Right from infancy they attended the Deep Cove Gospel Hall and still do. We believe Daniel is in Heaven, he had no doubts about his relationship with God. “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens a time to be born and a time to die”. Ecclesiastes 3. This is very very very difficult to accept that Daniel’s time was done, but we can be encouraged with this verse: “And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus”. Philippians 4:7. So with breaking hearts we share with you our loss. He will be sorely missed by many. His parents & siblings, his relatives on the Smith side and on the Suzak /Roberts side, his best friend Thomas and many others that knew him. We would as a family like to thank our family and friends for all the help & support you have given us now and in the days to come. Also I would like to mention all the emergency staff, doctors, nurses & the RCMP who helped us through this agonizing experience. You were all so very caring, Thank you.

God Bless You All!
Love Graeme & Nirvana, Jordan, Matthew, Rebekah

Lilas Reynolds Walling

May 26, 2011

June 24, 1925 – May 21, 2011.
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Lilas, much loved mother, grandmother, great- grandmother, and friend to so many. Mom passed away in hospice care at Maple Ridge, with Carol and Shimon at her side. Lilas is survived by her only child Carol Sigvaldason. She also leaves to mourn, her grandchildren, Shimon, Charlotte, and Ezra Karmel and great-granddaughter, Gaia Lilas Ho. Also her half brother Ron Reynolds and family, her step mother, Jean Reynolds, cousin Margaret Livie, and niece & nephew, Heather and Grant Robson. As well as family though, there are so many friends just as important to her who will find her passing so difficult. Lilas was predeceased by her husband , Oliver Walling and her daughter’s father, and first husband , Jonas Sigvaldason. Mom was born in Vancouver on June 24, 1925. Her mother was killed tragically when Lilas was five, and she was adopted by her grandparents, May and Rupert King. She graduated from Commercial High School, and soon had work with the government in the later years of the war. She married Jonas in 1950. By 1955, Carol was born, and Lilas left the marriage to pursue a life on her own her with her new baby. She was a court reporter in Burnaby, one of the last shorthand recorders in B.C.. She married Oliver Walling in 1965 and moved to Maple Ridge where Wally had work as warden of the Alouette River Unit and Twin Maples. She worked at MRSS for many years, until her retirement in 1984. She enjoyed the last twenty years of her life in her own apartment here in Maple Ridge. Lilas loved life and people, told wonderful stories, and always laughter was around her. She was diagnosed with ovarian cancer over five years ago and given three months to live. She accepted it with good grace and went on a trip to Nova Scotia with Carol. Without treatment, she beat the disease, and had her heart not been so weak, she’d probably still be out with her friends , shopping and generally making everyone’s day happier. Such a vibrant, generous, good woman; who was as unique as her name. As I used to say to her everynight when I went to bed as a child; I love you a million, zillion, gillion mommy-for ever and ever and ever. All who knew and loved Lilas, are welcome to a Celebration of her life, to be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church 12145 Laity St Maple Ridge on June 2nd at 11:00 AM. Please send flowers; she would love it.
