It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden death of Hannah Rae Gadsby on December 27th. Rae was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grand mother, friend and mentor. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Byron, daughter Sandra, sons Blaine and Brent, granddaughter Caitlynne, grandson Kyle and great grandson, Grayson. Francis Douglas (Frank) Bell

passed away peacefully on December 19, 2010 in Maple Ridge, B.C. at age 84 years. Frank is survived by his loving family, wife Dot, 2 sisters Frances and Jeanine; 7 children Edna, Douglas(Sherry), Frank(Jan), Nance(Ralph), Ian(Valerie), Gerry(Carolyn), Janice(David) and special son John(Christine); 18 grandchildren – Chris(Rhonda), Carrie-Lyn, Alison, Katie, Cameron, Nicholas, Graham, Jennifer(Chris), Megan, Thomas, Jonathon, Chelsea, Samantha, Quinn, Dennis(Katy); 5 great grandchildren Lyndsay, Iain, Alexandra, Kaelen and Jacob. A Celebration of Franks’ life will be held Saturday, January 15th at 1PM at the Maple Ridge Baptist Church 22155 Lougheed Hwy Maple Ridge. In lieu of flowers donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.

Frank Gauthier

Frank passed away peacefully at Ridge Meadows Hospital on the 17th of December, 2010 at 73 years of age. He leaves to mourn his wife Kathie Huren, as well as numerous family and friends. A Celebration of Frank’s Life will be held at the Army Navy Veterans Club, located at 22326 North Ave, Maple Ridge, BC on Sunday, January 2nd, 2011 at 2 o’clock in the afternoon.

Lorraine Marguerite Peverelle

Nov. 6, 1924 – Dec. 20, 2010

Lorraine was born into the Henri Chandonnet family in Quebec City.
As a young woman she worked in the post office during the 2nd World War and later as an English-French translator in Halifax. She moved to BC in the early 1950’s.

A loving wife and mother, she is survived by her devoted husband, William Peverelle and children, Victor, Peter, Bruce and Michelle, 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

She loved being a home maker, taking care of her family. She will be greatly missed.

Makenga Kamilu Tshimanga

Makenga Kamilu Tshimanga passed away peacefully at Ridge Meadows Hospital on December 16th, 2010.
Catholic Prayers will be said at 5:30pm on Tuesday, December 21st, 2010, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 22587 – 121st Avenue, Maple Ridge. Funeral Mass will follow on Wednesday, December 22nd at 10:30 am, also at St. Patrick’s. Father Richard Au Celebrant. Interment to follow in the Gardens of Gethsemani, 15800 32nd Avenue, Surrey, B.C.

Elizabeth Ann Lochhead

Passed away peacefully after a long battle with cancer. She is survived by children, James (Sandy), Melanie (Trevor), Jennifer (Ellery), Andrew (Kelsea), Gwynneth (Shawn), Rhonda, Dude (Rebecca), 11 grandchildren, and other family and friends. Special thanks to Dr. Larry Lim, the staff at McKenney Creek Hospice, and the staff at the Ridge Meadows Cancer Clinic for their wonderful care.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, December 18th at St. Andrew’s United Church – 22165 Dewdney Trunk Road, Maple Ridge. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Girl Guides of Canada would be appreciated.

Doreen Lanoville

July 30, 1937 – December 7, 2010 Doreen passed away peacefully after a courageous and inspiring battle with leukemia. Doreen is survived by her husband of 53 years, Donald Lanoville, her children Tracy (Paul) Way, Murray (Sheena) Lanoville and Pat (Jeff) Stewart and her grandchildren Aimee (Chris), Clark (Shannon), Duncan, Colin, and Nick. Doreen was predeceased by her parents, William and Eveline Parsons, grandsons, Conner and Evan and great-grandson, Garrett. Doreen is also survived by her siblings Keith (Flossie), Pat, Tom (Pat), and Jim (Betty) and a large extended family. Celebration of Life to be held Saturday, December 18, 2010 at 2:00 PM. Garden Hill Funeral Chapel 11765 224th Street, Maple Ridge. In lieu of flowers donations to the Council of Canadians will be greatly appreciated.

Barbara Mary Nienaber (née Kelly)

Born May 28, 1946 in Vancouver, B.C. and died peacefully at Ridge Meadows Hospital in the early morning of Tuesday, December 7, 2010, with her husband at her side and her two sons and granddaughter with her the evening before. Barb is survived by her loving husband, Fred, her son James and her son Gordon (Liz) as well as her four month old granddaughter, Sadie. She is also survived by her sister Joyce (Peter) Clugston and Lynne (Charles) Woodruff. Barb graduated from UBC and taught for a number of years in Richmond. She also received her diploma in library science and was an on call secondary school librarian. She was active at South Arm United Church and worked tirelessly with the Little Friends Preschool, obtaining support for special needs preschoolers. She also worked as a volunteer on the Board of the Cancer Society, leading the Reach to Recovery and Cansurmount programmes. After moving to Maple Ridge in 1990, she trained as a Medical Office Assistant and worked in a medical office. She was active on the Board of St. Andrew’s Haney United Church, most recently as Chair of the Manse Committee, and was also active in Women’s groups and in the Book Club. She had a fine sense of decor and a flair for style. All who knew her were drawn in by her personality and her sincerity, as well as her determination to overcome all obstacles. She was a true inspiration to many. A memorial service will be held at 2:30 pm on Saturday, December 11, 2010 at St. Andrew’s United Church, 22165 Dewdney Trunk Rd., Maple Ridge.

Grace Irene Mussallem (nee Cuthbert)

December 6, 2010

Born August 26, 1923 in Maple Ridge and passed away December 4, 2010. Predeceased by husband George, brother Ralph and sister Edna. Survived by brother-in-law Matthew Godfrey, niece June Pitcher and nephew Lorne Godfrey; also by George’s sons, David and Robert (Bernice) and daughter Anne. Grace attended High School in Maple Ridge. She then went to UBC where she earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree (April 1941) and later a Bachelor of Arts degree. In 1962, she completed her Certified Management Accountant degree. During World War II, she was employed by the Weather Bureau and Boeing Aircraft. In 1945 she joined B.C. Electric (later B.C. Hydro) where she worked for 20 years in Labour Relations and Budgeting. She then worked in the hospital field, mostly in Victoria, returning to Maple Ridge in 1970 when she married George Mussallem. Grace served on the Board of the Ridge Meadows Hospital for 8 years and as a Director of the Maple Ridge Community Foundation. No service by Grace’s Request. A private family gathering will be held at a later date.
