Aline Desrosiers

Aline Mary passed away peacefully December 31, 2009 in Ridge Meadows Hospital at age 83 years. Predeceased by her husband Camille on February 25, 2004. She is survived by her son Michel (Angela), daughter Carole (Reg) Trudel, six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. The family would like to thank the Fraser Health case worker and nurses for their kindness and support. Funeral Service to be held at 11:00 am on Friday, January 8th, 2010 at Garden Hill Funeral Chapel, 11765 – 224th St, Maple Ridge. Donations to the Alzheimer’s Society of BC would be appreciated.

Born October 18, 1939 and passed away peacefully with her daughter by her side on December 30th, 2009. Predeceased by her husband Jim, she will be dearly missed and remembered by Barry, Allan, Natalie, Joy, all of her grandchildren and extended family and friends. Mom, you taught us how to love unconditionally. Thank you. A Celebration of Life will be held at 3pm, Thursday, January 7th, 2010 at Garden Hill Funeral Chapel, 11765 – 224th Street, Maple Ridge. Born February 16, 1915 in Toronto, Ontario. She passed away December 28, 2009 in Maple Ridge, BC. Grace will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by all who were fortunate to have known her. She is survived by her loving daughters Lorraine (Richard), Sturgeon, Ontario, Beverley Southwood, Pitt Meadows, BC, and son Michael (Lori), Jones, Ontario and many Grandchildren, and Great grand children. The family would like to thank the many care workers of Golden Ears Retirement Home old and new. Thanks also to Drs. Milewski, Mawani and Pattel. Celebration of Life to be held Saturday, January 9, 2010, 2:00 pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah?s Witnesses, 11770 West Street, Maple Ridge, BC.

Gerald Whatley

Gerry was born in London England on November 8th, 1925 and passed peacefully in Ridge Meadows Hospital on December 27th, 2009. He was pre-deceased by Veronica, his loving wife of almost 61 years. He is survived by his sons John and Raymond, daughter Barbara Desjardins and loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. After serving in the British Royal Navy, Gerry moved with his family to Windsor Ontario and retired to Pitt Meadows B.C. from a long career with Ford Motor Company. He was an enthusiastic pilot of both radio-controlled and full size aircraft, and enjoyed snooker, golf and fishing. A Gathering In Remembrance will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday January 9th at the Fraserview Village Hall, 22538 116th Ave. Maple Ridge

Muriel Smith

Muriel Alice Smith of Maple Ridge, BC died at Ridge Meadows Hospital on the evening of Christmas Day 2009, in her eighty-sixth year. She succumbed to respiratory failure after a short stay at the RMH ICU. Muriel was born in Lethbridge, Ab in 1923 and was predeceased by her parents Albert Bowling (1936)and Alice Burns (1964). She is survived by her husband, Ian Smith of Maple Ridge, children Michael (Ottawa, On), Bruce, (Abbotsford BC), Roderick, ( Mission, BC), Christina and Patrick, (Maple Ridge), daughters in law Susan Smith (Mission), Candace Smith and son in law Gary Wheating( Maple Ridge), grandchildren Nicole, Julia, Stephen, Tristan, Ainsley and Alex Smith. The family would like to thank sincerely the staff of the Ridge Meadows Hospital ICU for their diligent efforts to prolong Muriel’s life, and to make her final passing as peaceful as possible. The wife of an army officer, Muriel had a full time job raising five children as the family moved from posting to posting in the Yukon, three Canadian provinces and Germany, before finally settling in Maple Ridge in 1971. She was an enthusiastic bridge player, she loved going to the latest movies, in later years she was a kind and generous grandmother and she always enjoyed her afternoon glass of sherry. She was a memorable person and she will be greatly missed. Donations to the Union Gospel Mission and/or Katy’s Place Animal Shelter in Maple Ridge in Muriel’s name would be appreciated.
